Milch on not knowing

From David Milch's autobiography, Life's Work, (2022).

The very idea of not knowing as an organizing principle is to be accepted with a proper humility—that it’s a privilege not to know and be given a chance to find out. You’re always aware there’s an irreducible mystery that at best you’re going to approach but never going to capture. And reverence for the mystery is itself the organization of the story.

I read this, and I think that what is says applies to the practice of psychoanalysis.
